Main Street Wausau, Inc. works in conjunction with downtown Wausau's Business Improvement District (BID) for the River District's revitalization. A BID is a defined geogrphic area in which property owners pay an annual special tax assessment for specific uses. In Wausau's BID, these assessments serve as Main Street Wausau's primary funding source.
Downtown Wausau's BID represents nearly 150 property owners and over 250 businesses. The BID encompasses businesses and properties located within these geographical boundaries:
